I have been teaching computers for 8 years and have had to create most of my own materials. This was one of the few things available back then and I was totally lost. I have used it as a guideline to set up my own lesson plans, changing the subject and adjusting the content to fit the grade level. The CD is great because the information is available for printing and the pictures and clip art used are superb.

I have never taught computer instruction before and this book gave me some very helpful information but also included some units that I won’t find useful for my situation. I have limited amount of time for computer instruction so need to focus on the very basics and this book covers topics that are more advanced. It does include the National Education Technology Standards for Students (NETS) which was very helpful. There was information provided for adapting the lessons for younger students but that wasn’t very helpful. Overall, the book is probably best suited for 4-6 grade in my opinion.

This book has been a huge help and I would recommended it, especially to first year teachers. There is a lot of supplemental information to help make learning fun and exciting for the children. The only thing that I dislike about the book is many of the websites recommended are no longer functioning. This is no fault of the author but I would love to have an updated version!

This book will save you a lot of ground work. Like me, perhaps you know all the programs to teach, but this book will save you time as the author has figured out the approach, the lesson plan layouts as well as has ideas and plans on which you can use as is or adapt to more specific needs.

Book has ten units and each unit has two or more lesson plans (It appears that each lesson plan is planned for an hour long class, but can easily be edited for shorter classes). Each unit comes with supplements to use, for both copy reproduction, as well as simple powerpoint slide shows to use in your class (included cd). Lesson plans are generic for elementary, with extension topics for the higher end of the elementary grades.

Author has done an excellent job. I wish she wrote a PART II with additional lessons on similar topics (for subsequent years, so we could easily rotate through different topics (I am expecting the kids to say, “Didn’t we do that last year?”

Author has really made an effort to make Computer Lab colorful and exciting for the kids.

    THANK YOU
